Counter Strike Global Offensive Music Kit Workshop

Monday, July 6, 2020 at 10:00 AM until Thursday, July 9, 2020 at 6:00 PMPacific Daylight Time

Over the course of the workshop we will analyze what musical elements constitute a "CS:GO Music Pack", how they function within the game and within a greater aesthetic context. After discussing various potential processes each artist will create their own music kit collection of musical sketches, "hack" them into the game, test the music pack in the context of the game and then iterate on the music.

We will review and critique as many artists work as possible and finally artists will be shown how to submit their resulting work to Valve to be considered for official release within the game.

Dates: July 6-9, 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM (PDT) each day

Requirements:

  • Access to a computer, internet access and a Steam account (free). it would be preferable to have had a Steam account for at least 2 weeks prior to the workshop.
  • Access to a DAW and should be capable of creating pieces of music within that  DAW and laying those pieces off to disk in a specific file format. (stereo wave 16/44)
  • A computer capable of running CS:GO enough to test music in the context of the game. We will only be playing the game as a way to test out music packs so most relatively modern mac or PCs will work and you won't need a heavy weight gaming PC.
